Kick off the New Year with Dry January

18 December, 2014

Dry January is a national campaign run by Alcohol Concern that encourages the public to go alcohol-free for 31 days in January. We are using this opportunity to raise awareness of the oral health messages that link to alcohol and promote these to companies and their employees.

Alcohol can have a variety of detrimental effects on oral health such as tooth staining, erosion and even tooth decay. However, recent research found that only 16 percent* of UK adults said they considered the effects that alcohol has on their oral health when they drank. Alcohol can also negatively impact the workplace with four in ten employers believing that alcohol misuse is a cause of absence from work**. With this in mind, companies are in the ideal position to remind staff of the dangers and keep an eye their drinking habits.
